Software Engineer

Lumen is an American telecommunications and digital infrastructure company. I joined their e-commerce platform team in 2021, splitting time between internal services and customer-facing applications.

This was the largest enterprise company I had worked for at the time, having an engineering team of 800+ and many large, legacy applications. I learned a lot about working effectively within a large organization and how to navigate the balancing act of making forward progress on tech debt while also delivering new features to customers.

● Reduced page load times from 40 seconds to 5 seconds. I engineered a suite of Java Spring web services for internal information caching, which drastically cut down repetitive compute that caused long page load times.
● Customer-facing service management portal. Built with Vue, enabling existing customers to view and manage their internet equipment and service plans. I drove the modernization of this application to use TypeScript and Vue 3, improving maintainability and developer experience.
● Deployment and release management across Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
